Enroute 365 is built on the metaphor of the road to describe life as a journey. In the movies, Forrest Gump likened life to “a box of chocolates.” Which got me to wondering, how do others describe this crazy little thing called life?
Here's how life is currently depicted around the blogosphere:
Two bloggers saw life as a sandwich. For Carina at Journey to Somewhere, life is like a peanut butter sandwich, “both enjoyable but sometimes hard to swallow.” VIEW POST. Leah's blog name captures her perceptions of life. At Life Sandwiches, her tagline sums it up: Life is like a sandwich...enjoy the big bites.
Others saw life as snack food. The Art of Tea presents life as "a Sugary, Battery Snack with a Hole in the Middle," VIEW POST, while Sarsar89’s Weblog decribes it as Warhead candy with the explanation, "You pop just one of those bad boys and you are about ready to cry, but once you surpass that outer layer of powdery super-sourness, you make it to that sweet candy center ..." VIEW POST.
Some bloggers see life in terms of sports. For OutofReach it's described as "a great bicycle race, [with an] aim to fulfill our personal legend." VIEW POST. For Peter at the St. Vincent's Hospital Darlinghurst - Male Nurses blog, life is a baton relay race. "You’re running around a track with a baton in your hand waiting to pass it on. This baton contains everything you have learnt and all that you hold dear." VIEW POST. And at Walking with Grace, it's viewed as a golf game. "God’s the golfer, we are the golf balls and our destiny/purpose in life is the golf hole." VIEW POST.
One final simile comes from Everything Livia. She pictures life as a raging river, noting "there is constant flow. In fact, agitation and movement are essential for life to endure. Stagnant waters breed disease and decay." To this she adds a piece of sound advice, "go with the flow." VIEW POST.
How do you view life? How would you finish the sentence, "Life is like _______?"

Stumble It!

Carina, I think we all look at life in different ways at different times ... but I DO like the peanut butter sandwich angle! Kinda unique ... fun! And, it's only healthy to see life with a pinch of humor ... especially during trying times!
Thanks for your comments (and vantage point)!

Hey there! I just wanted to say thanks for featuring my blog. I also see life as a journey; that's probably how I describe it most. I had fun joking a bit with the peanut butter sandwich thing, though!
