Just for fun.
Usually I rely on Titania at Finding Life's Enchantments for finding the cutest and most clever videos, but recently I just came across a music video on YouTube that I can really identify with ... a song that reflects my Internet journey!
Immersing myself in the new media as I have can sometimes be overwhelming. Not just blogging, but learning the ins and outs of the specialized blog ranking and networking sites like Technorati, My Blog Log and Blog Catalog. Slowly I've also been making my way through the social bookmarking and traffic-driving technology of delicious, Stumble Upon and digg.
Ten years ago, I could not have predicted that today I'd be learning how to Twitter. Or that I'd be so LinkedIn. I didn't know then, that I'd need an entire Rolodex system just to manage those passwords!
Take a listen and see if you can relate!

Stumble It!

O how utterly, utterly true... ;)
BTW... you're on Facebook, Bren?... ahh, yes, so you are!... "friendship" request coming your way (my "real" name is Dan Gay, by the way...)

Helen/Bimmy -- It's amazing ... I just signed up for Facebook in the last two weeks and already I've seen you there AND have been contacted by an acquaintance from my high school days! Not bad for an introvert like me! I'm not sure you and I are "linked up" via all our mutual social media tools, but this next week I'm going to try and get up-to-date with all my blogging friends and favorites, so don't be surprised if you see more invites from me within Blog Catalog and others!

PS: I came online to play on facebook, how come I'm still on blogcatalog 90 mins later??
Great to see you on facebook too, Brenda - are we totally linked up now?
Hehe.

I was going to write my own post about this and link to the vid, but i couldnt get signed into youtube - it said my sign in wasnt valid!
Yet, I had made a note of the log in details in my little (big fat) book of log ins....then I thought I would write a post about the irony of that...but then I was too exhausted by that point to argue with technology further, and got a book to read instead. I rest my case:)
Thanks Brenda for finding this for us, its a good laugh!

Coll and Tammy -- Now I have to confess: every once in a while I sneak back here to play this video; these guys just crack me up so much!
Posted by: Brenda | September 23, 2008 at 09:29 AM
That was hilarious!! :-)
Now please excuse my digital dust.. I am clicking off to explore Twitter. :-)

I came back over to see this little video to remind myself to get off the computer this weekend and not to worry about it.
Have a great weekend!

Haizum, Bimmy, Max, Monica -- I am SO glad you all understood this! When I played the video from my long-suffering husband, he just looked at me (still roaring with laughter) and said (and I quote), "Yes, dear. That is rather amusing. If you say so!" By the way, as Bimmy had noted, if any of you would like to link up on LinkedIn, I'm up for it!

Oh there's so much out there isn't there?
sometimes I wanna hide from it all, other times I take it and run!
;)

Hey Brenda,
LOL LOL loved the video!! Extremely creative, although I do not relate with it (at 100% I mean).
I twitter, I Entrecard, I blog...but that is it. I am not on facebook, nor flickr, nor digg...I just don't have the time for it.
But I know what you mean about not knowing a decade ago how fan of the Internet I'd become! I use the internet to retrieve information on several issues, saving me a lot of time in a library. I love it, and I wouldn't know how to live without it any longer lol....it's sad, but true.
Cheers

oh Brenda - this is my life in song!
Wanna link up on Linked in??
Posted by: Bimmy the Bookish | September 17, 2008 at 08:39 AM
*chuckles* I can relate.
Lately, whenever I meet new people, a common phrase can be heard: Are you on Facebook/Friendster/MySpace(insert online social network of your choice)?
And there are more and more buttons on some of the blogs I read that I have no idea what its use is. Diggs and what have yous. :S

Merely Me, Emily, Ellen, Tammy -- I was realizing today that I've overlooked something I always tell my business communications clients: our focus should not be the technology; that's just a tool. Our purpose and goal is communication ... and we should never loose sight of that! So, now I need to heed my own advice!

Oh...this is what I needed to see tonight. I am lying in the bed next to my son that has had the stomach bug all weekend. Of course, I have had no sleep. What am I doing awake floating around on the blogosphere when I should be getting some sleep? I guess it is he love of keeping up with other fellow bloggers who have the same desire to post and keep up with their favorite blogs. I have to say that I have missed it this weekend.
I was glad to see the comments on your previous post. I read them and took them all to heart. That is really what got be back on the "net" tonight. I could not wait to read my comments and reply. Oh no...maybe I need some help.
I hope you have a wonderful week.

Hi Brenda & all of you: Yes, it does feel truly crazy sometimes. Emily, I liked your comment about replacing 'it' with 'I' BTW. Lately I've been very overwhelmed & overcome by the volume of what's out there & have pulled back for a while. It's true, I have been very focused on my e-book, but I needed a break from it all - I couldn't tell what was good & what not! And yes, the technical stuff can be verrry challenging.

It's crazy isn't it. (Perhaps I should replace "it" with "I") Oh well, at least I actually love what I write about and get to meet some cool people along the way!!!!!

Oh that is just...great...love it! I know...how did writing evolve to all this. It is crazy and I can't keep up!
