Enroute 365 is about ...
It's about the journey …
Sometimes when I meet others, I see only our differences. I'm not alone in this. What I've come to find throughout my life, however, is that when people really open up -- sharing our stories, our cares, experiences and struggles -- then barriers come down. It is here that we find we've much in common, despite ethnic, economic and religious differences. This why I've launched Enroute 365; because while we each travel our own paths, we cover much of the same ground.
Enroute 365 is my avenue for sharing the real-life vignettes that help me explore what it means to be human on this journey. Imperfection and best intentions, expectations and observations, failures and success ... each is examined from my personal journey or from my the lives of friends I've met along the way.
"Striving is the continuing story of how I become the hero of my own life."
... The journey of one imperfect human
In sharing the slices of my life, I write primarily from my vast experience of being imperfectly human. I've long said that life conspires to keep me humble. And my brothers-in-law help.
I recall an occasion when my sisters' husbands were giving me a good-natured ribbing. Maybe it was over something I'd done ... or neglected to do. Upon hearing their teasing, however, my then-four-year-old nephew burst into tears and
ordered his father and uncle to leave me alone. "Aunt Brenda's PERFECT," he cried. I pulled Jesse onto my lap, and after assuring him that the jabs were all in fun, I confided, "but, Jesse, I am NOT perfect." We deliberated that point for a moment; I think it broke his heart to hear the truth. I didn't even realize the full truth myself until I spoke it aloud, "I don't even want to be perfect. I wouldn't be me without my faults."
Over a decade later, I still feel that way; I want to be better, but not perfect. It's not until I fall short that I can propel myself forward to greater growth. And the striving IS my path, It's the continuing story of how I become the hero of my own life.
I hope that you find something of value here. Perhaps a new perspective or a kindred spirit. Because even thought I write primarily from my own experiences, I know I'm not alone.
